Tivoli, a green setting in Copenhagen
Open since 1843, Tivoli is one of the world’s oldest theme parks, attracting millions of visitors every year to marvel at its lush gardens, timeless rides and spectacular events.

What are the must-see attractions?
Among the many attractions of the Tivoli Gardens (around 40), some are not to be missed. Here is our selection:
- Rutschebanen: One of the world’s oldest wooden roller coasters, built in 1914. It’s a fun, family-friendly ride (it doesn’t go too fast) offering panoramic views of the park, the historic Indre By district and beyond… It’s the little brother of the mine train at Disneland Paris.
- Vertigo: a thrill ride for adrenaline-seekers, with loops and high-speed rotations that will have you glued to the back of your seat! You’ll even catch a glimpse of famous landmarks such as the Round Tower of Rundetarn and Rosenborg Castle on the way up.
- The Golden Tower (Det Gyldne Tårn): A 63-metre free-fall tower, offering sensations of vertigo and a breathtaking view of the different districts of Copenhagen.
- The Star Flyer (Himmelskibet): A giant carousel that soars 80 meters into the air, offering panoramic views and a gentle aerial experience.
📌Forthe very youngest, Tivoli offers a family-friendly area in Copenhagen: with numerous activities aimed specifically at the very youngest (3-8 years), who are often overlooked in other theme parks.
The gardens are also home to more recent attractions, such as theTivoli Aquarium, where you can admire fascinating marine species.

A pleasant stroll through Tivoli without the attractions
Although Tivoli is an amusement park, it is also home to beautiful gardens with many little corners to explore. The attractions cover only part of the park, allowing visitors to stroll peacefully through the heart of Cophenhagen.
👉 We went to Tivoli Gardens twice, once to enjoy the attractions with the unlimited pass, and a second time for a stroll and dinner overlooking the Tivoli lakes at Færgekroens Bryghus.

🌿Tivoli Gardens offer a very enjoyable experience, even without climbing a single attraction. We loved strolling through the flower-lined avenues and wooded areas, discovering carefully landscaped grounds, peaceful ponds and beautiful flowerbeds. The charming historic buildings and colorful pavilions added an enchanting touch to our stroll.
We also enjoyed the open-air shows scattered around the park. The many cafés and restaurants invite you to relax and enjoy local specialties. Tivoli is an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Copenhagen, ideal for a change of scene.

Seasonal entertainment at Tivoli: Christmas and Halloween
Tivoli Gardens are renowned for their seasonal entertainment, transforming the park into a fairytale setting all year round, especially in winter.
- At Christmas, Tivoli is decked out in thousands of twinkling lights, decorated fir trees and wooden chalets offering culinary specialties and handcrafted gifts. The Tivoli Christmas market is one of the most charming in Europe, offering a magical atmosphere.
- À Halloween, Denmark’s largest pumpkin competition is held in the park every year.
As well as Christmas andHalloween, Tivoli also celebrates spring and summer with special events, open-air concerts and spectacular fireworks displays. Each season brings its own surprises.
